58-year-old woman
Samira Ellis, a 58-year-old woman born in Israel but now living in Sweden with her Swedish husband, gave birth to twins this past Saturday (March 8th). She is the oldest woman in Israel ever to give birth, beating the old record by 5 years (the children were born in Israel after she and her husband went to a fertility clinic in Cypress to get pregnant).
Ellis gave birth to Elias (a boy) and Solva (a girl).
She is at least the third or possibly fourth 58-year-old or older woman to give birth to twins. Just last month, an almost 59-year-old English woman gave birth to twins, and there also was a 58-year-old mother of twins in Taiwan, and possibly a 59-year-old also from England who gave birth to twins 10 years ago.
Luvella Olesen
We're sorry to pass along the news that according to her niece, Luvella Olesen of Minnesota passed away yesterday at the age of 102 years, 5 months, 8 days.
Luvella and her twin sister, Estella Oksol, were born on April 20, 1900 in Hastings, Minnesota.
We believed they were the oldest living twins in the United States and second-oldest living set of twins in the world at the time of Luvella's death.
Lena and Thilda Vangstad, age 101, and also residents of Minnesota, may now be the oldest living twins in the United States.
Our thoughts and condolences are with Estella and the rest of their family.
40 Year Old Record Breakers
Kent and Kevin Doerfler celebrated their 40th birthday by combining their weightlifting efforts to lift a composite 1,015 pounds at the Salem Fitness Center Wednesday in Salem, Oregon.
The Doerfler twins are grass seed farmers from Stayton and Sublimity, Oregon. They have been lifting since they were youngsters.
Kevin has lifted more than 600 pounds on his own and the two are going to continue to train to try to improve their combined deadlift record to more than 1200 pounds.

Oldest set of triplets
Congratulations to Cynthia, Mabel and Mary Fox who have recently been named the world's oldest set of triplets by the Guinness Book of Records.
The three English women turned 80 on Tuesday, Feb. 19th. Cynthia, the oldest of the girls by minutes, said: "We still get on famously."
The threesome caused a sensation when they arrived in 1922  when multiple births were almost unknown. The girls, all widowed, grew up as celebrities at Barnsley, South Yorks.
Nigeria is believed to have the highest percentage of twin births of any country in the world.
Heaviest Birth Weight
The heaviest birth weight found was for twins born to Mrs. J.P. Haskin of Arkansas, on February 20 1924, totaling 27 lbs 12ozs.
A set born in England, the Warren's weighed a total of 25lbs 8 ozs at their birth on December 6 1884.
